Jazz Is Back In Norwalk!

Norwalk Jazz Festival Returns to Veteran’s Park on July 12 With the Best in Jazz and Culture for the Entire Family.

NORWALK, CONNECTICUT- June 09, 2008: The Norwalk Jazz Festival returns for the second year to Veteran’s Park on the beautiful shore of Long Island Sound on Saturday, July 12th, from noon to sunset. This cultural music event will heat up the City of Norwalk and feature the best in jazz music, along with Norwalk’s reknowned attractions. “It’s going to be great to have jazz back in Norwalk,” says Tad Diesel, Norwalk’s director of marketing and business development. “Our vision is to increase arts and cultural activities and to continue hosting this prominent community event annually.”

Jazz music lovers, young and old, will enjoy the sounds of an exciting musical show that features Grammy Award- winning artists and nominees and jazz and blues performers from the worldwide jazz scene. This year’s line-up includes- the Roy Haynes Quartet, Pieces of a Dream, Kirk Whalum, Sherry Winston, the Damon Grant Project and Tyrha Lindsey.

The Norwalk Jazz Festival is a one-day cultural event that offers great jazz music, a relaxing seaside environment, and Norwalk’s unique attractions. Restaurants and shops from among the best in the area – like Jeff’s Cuisine, SONO Bakery and many more -- will offer traditional, vegetarian and specialty fare on the grounds. Souvenirs will also be available as keepsakes.

A portion of the proceeds from the festival will benefit the NJF Scholarship Foundation, Corp.,an organization that enables talented young Norwalk musicians to pursue their dreams of becoming professional artists. Tickets for the Norwalk Jazz Festival are $25, and children under 12 are free when accompanied by a ticket holding adult. VIP tickets and packages are available at $75. All VIP ticket holders receive a $10 voucher to redeem with on-site vendors. Parking is free. The Norwalk Jazz Festival is an easy walk from MetroNorth’s South Norwalk station.
